Earth Friendly Beauty Brands

Happy April!  Seeing as April is for all things earth related, I thought it would be perfect to start off the month with one of my favorite topics, earth friendly beauty.  There are many skincare and makeup companies that have set out to create a more beautiful and sustainable world through their products.  Knowledge of the harmful effects that synthetic ingredients have on not only our skin, but on the earth as well have made many toss away their drugstore cosmetics for something cleaner.

Some qualities that you will find throughout these environmentally conscious brands are that they use naturally sourced ingredients that are used in their pure forms and don’t cause harm to the earth.  They also don’t cause any harm to the earth’s creatures.  Any brand that cares about their environmental impact also knows that testing on animals is cruel and absolutely unnecessary.  The employees of eco-conscious companies are willing to test the products out on themselves because they know each ingredient is 100% safe for use.  These types of companies are also mindful of the packaging used for their products.  The product packaging is typically made from recycled materials and are often either biodegradable or able to be re-purposed in one’s home.

Some of my favorite conscious companies are:

100% Pure – This company is unique in the fact  that it uses real fruits to create the pigments for their makeup line.  The ingredient list of each product names out various fruits and essential oil combinations which create a healthy product that is full of antioxidants.  You will never find anything synthetic as even the preservatives are 100% natural.  They also use recycled packaging and offer inspiration of ways for customers to reuse their product’s containers.  Currently, from now until Earth Day, they are going to plant a tree for every product sold on their site.  Check out some of my faves: Mattifying PrimerCoffee Bean Caffeine Eye CreamEucalyptus Seafoam Facial Cleanser

Osmia Organics – This company, which encourages it customers to “return to their senses” by making healthy choices for their skin and environment, uses ingredients which are sourced consciously and have less of an impact on the earth.  The limited ingredient products, which are completely free of synthetic ingredients, are even made in a green facility.  I still have many products of theirs to try but over the incredibly dry winter I relied on their Lip Repair treatment at night and the Lip Doctor lip balm during the day.

Juice Beauty –  Juice Beauty prides themselves on being a natural and certified organic brand that creates products backed by science.  The brand uses as many locally sourced ingredients as possible and uses sustainable packaging with soy ink.  They are Peta and Leaping Bunny certified so their products are never tested on animals and their products are made in the USA using renewable energy.  My faves: Phyto-Pigments Perfecting Concealer and Stem Cellular CC Cream

Captain Blankenship – This brand cares about transparency in everything they do.  They use only organic and wild harvested ingredients which include cold pressed oils from plants, flowers, seaweed, sea salt, and combinations of essential oils.  Their products are bottled in recyclable and reusable containers.  My faves so far are the Avocado & Peppermint Hand, Cuticle, and Food Balm and the Mermaid Dry Shampoo; I will definitely be trying the Aloe & Rose Toner next.

Herbivore Botanicals – I know I’ve talked about this brand here before, it is one of my absolute favorites and one of the first natural brands I ever tried.  They use high quality, organic and pure ingredients which are ethically sourced, raw materials.  Their glass bottles are recyclable and reusable.  My favorite products from Herbivore Botanicals are Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face MistBlue Tansy MaskLavender Sea Salt Spray, and the Detox Bath Salts.

If you haven’t tried out these brands, this would be a good month to give them a try.  These companies make it easy to take care of your skin and the environment at the same time.

Thanks for stopping by!

xoxo, A
