Fall Skincare Favorites

Natural skincare products have become incredibly popular over the past few years as more and more companies attempt to clean up their ingredient list to not only keep your skin glowing but also improve the skin’s overall health as well.  The benefits to using natural skincare products go on and on and includes being better for the environment due to their naturally derived ingredients as well as being gentler and non-irritating on your skin.

While the products you use do not need to be entirely natural, there are certain ingredients that it is best to avoid.  Ingredients such as DEA, parabens, and artificial fragrances should be avoided in all products as they are absorbed into the skin.  Another thing I am always sure to look into before buying from any company is their policy on animal testing and their use of animal ingredients.  It is my firm belief that no animal should ever be harmed for our own style and beauty.

Skincare is also something that, just like fashion and makeup, should change with the seasons, mainly because your skin changes with the seasons. I have oily skin, but it becomes slightly more combo during the cooler months as the air is dryer, so my routine changes to include more moisture in some places and oil absorbing clay masks in others.

My current skincare routine includes 1. Clear Skin Foaming Cleanser – I’ve been using this face wash for months now and am loving it. The main ingredient is tea tree oil which has healing properties so it is great for problem skin.  Another great ingredient is coconut oil which is very moisturizing (a must for oily skin) so it nourishes the skin and prevents signs of aging.  The next step in my skin care routine is 2. Pixi Glow Tonic – this toner is great for balancing the skin after cleansing and contains glycolic acid, aloe, witch hazel, and others, all of which are great for improving the complexion.  My final step in the morning is the 3. Ocean Mineral Moisturizer by Truself Organics.  This moisturizer is really light weight and contains dead sea minerals, green tea, and aloe.  Together these ingredients detoxify the skin while hydrating and providing antioxidants to protect your skin.  I also appreciate a moisturizer which has some natural sun protection.  Some mornings I will also incorporate a face scrub into my routine to really slough away the dead skin cells and help to unclog my pores, I love to do this on the weekend as I feel it rids the dirt and debris from the week and leaves my skin feeling nice and smooth.  My favorite scrub is 4. Frank Body’s Creamy Face Scrub as it used natural ingredients such as finely ground coffee to scrub my pores while ingredients like white clay and rose-hip oil nourish and fight signs of aging.

My nighttime routine varies a bit as I’ve started to use an oil serum in place of moisturizer.  I feel that overnight is the perfect time to let all the goodness of an oil/serum absorb into your skin.  This 5. Oil Serum from S.W. Basics contains so many skin loving nutrients such as avocado oil, geranium oil, turmeric oil, and coffee oil.  Using an oil at night has greatly helped my skin’s appearance and the way it feels in the morning. My absolute favorite way to take care of my skin at night is to use a face mask before bed.  Not only is it relaxing to end the day in such a way, but it is so beneficial to your skin as well.  6. Blue Tansy Resurfacing Mask by Herbivore Botanicals is one of the best masks I’ve ever used.  Not only does the mask smell amazing, but the combination of willow bark, fruit enzymes, and blue tansy oil unclog pores while exfoliating and soothing the skin, that is about as good as it gets in a skincare product.  I like to use this mask a few times a week to clarify my skin.  The combination of all these products have allowed me to have the best looking skin I’ve had since my pre-teen years and I am truly grateful for the companies that make products that support my beliefs that skincare should use natural ingredients and not harm the environment in its making or use.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

xoxo, Amanda
